Description
Dr. Hood glared at the words again. “What sort of trick is this woman up to now?” he demanded. He had once been eminent as a psychic investigator, and in the public mind his name was associated with Sir William Crookes, Sir Oliver Lodge, and Conan Doyle, although, unlike them, he had remained a convinced unbeliever. His best-known book, The World of Spooks and Spoofs, had been an international best seller, but he had taken up painting as a hobby late in life, and in recent years had devoted himself entirely to art, dropping out of scientific circles altogether.
