Introduction
The Mystery of a Conflicted Calling
“Before I formed thee in the womb, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee.” – Jeremiah 1:5
Every genuine calling carries a paradox.The moment God’s hand rests upon a Man, that life becomes both a vessel of divine favour and a target of spiritual opposition.
To be anointed is to be marked out not only for glory but also for warfare.
Many assume that once the oil flows, the path becomes easy. But those who have walked with God know that the anointing attracts battles the uncalled will never face. Every true servant of God eventually encounters seasons where the promise and the prison coexist, where prophecy seems suspended, and faith is tested in silence.
Theologically, this tension reveals the principle of divine contradiction, that God hides greatness within weakness and promotion within persecution. David was anointed yet pursued by King Saul to destroy him.
Joseph was favoured yet forgotten in the prison until the time appointed for his word to find fulfillment. Paul was apprehended by God for a special assignment yet has to go through the prison. And even Christ, the Anointed One, was “led as a lamb to the slaughter.” because purpose must be realised and fulfilled.
These moments of divine process seem contradictory, yet it is not the absence of God’s power but the expression of it. They shape our heart, purify our inner motives, and establish unshakeable faith within us.
Every anointed person will face their version of arrest, not necessarily in a physical cell, but in situations that seem to lock potential, mute vision, or suspend progress. It is another type of wilderness experience.
Yet, it is in that hidden place that the Spirit begins His deepest work.
The oil begins to mature in confinement.
This book is written for those who know they are called yet find themselves misunderstood, delayed one way or another, or even silenced by situations and circumstances. It is also possible that you are not given the opportunity to express and develop your potential because of envy. This book also explores the mystery of divine purpose under pressure, the theology of suffering in service, and the beauty of resurrection after rejection.
Through biblical insights, true-to-life stories, and inspired reflections, we will walk through seven progressive stages from anointing to arrest, and finally to reign.
Ecclesiastes 4:14a KJV
For out of prison he cometh to reign;
The journey of the called is not a straight line; it is a refining path.
But every prison has a prophetic expiration date. When the oil meets its appointed time, no chain can hold it back.
You were not called by God to collapse on the way. You were arrested to be refined and be defined by your purpose. And when the process is complete you will reign in wisdom, humility, and power
