Like the Awakening Sun

Like the Awakening Sun is a raw, powerful, and uncompromising debut poetry collection by Menashe Yitzhak. Born during the quiet stillness of the early pandemic lockdowns, Yitzhak gathered and refined years of deeply personal writing into a singular, cohesive work that fearlessly navigates the intersections of memory, grief, and human experience. The collection unfolds across four distinct movements. It opens with a stark, evocative reflection on a transformative journey through Poland, grappling with history and personal memory, before transitioning into a heartbreaking tribute to the courageous spirit of his late sister, Lilach, during her battle with cancer. From there, Yitzhak broadens his lens to offer piercing observations on life, relationships, and the intricacies of the human psyche, ultimately closing with a refined selection of sharp, minimalist haiku poetry.Yitzhak emerges as an uncompromising poet who spares neither himself nor his readers. Defined by a sharp, cutting honesty, his words strike straight to the heart and leave a lasting reverberation. Like the Awakening Sun is a visceral journey—sublime, haunting, and deeply thought-provoking.
